Hello and welcome to my latest blog! I am very excited that you are here! This is one of my favorite topics! I am a firm believer that if we are not constantly pushing ourselves then we are not growing.
In this blog I am going to try to show you some different ways that you can challenge yourself to be better at whatever your goals and dreams maybe.
Challenge Yourself Daily
Do you know who your worse critic is? Is it your spouse? or maybe your best friend? Maybe it’s another family member. Actually the answer is YOU!
It is important to set personal goals daily. What do you want to get done? How long do you feel it should take?
The first thing I believe is important to do is tell as many people as possible what your plan is. If they know what you are planning to do the more likely you are to stick with your goals. The last thing you want to do is show everyone that they were right and that you could not accomplish your goals.
The next thing I do is write out my goals and set dates beside them. This gives me something to look at every day! If I can see my goals and the dates I have a much better chance that I am going to stay focused and hit my goals. Now I don’t always hit the goals I set out but I get a lot closer than I would have if I did not write them out with my dates by them.
I also like to write my goals down on paper. The reason being is I carry my goals around in my back pocket and when I hit a goal I can scratch it off. I love being able to see all the things I was able to scratch off. It is it very empowering. Anytime I am feeling down and feel like I am not on track I can pull out the paper and see all the things I have done so far. I can also share with my wife so she can see how much closer we are to our dreams and goals
Time Management Challenge
One of the ways I like to stay focused is to use a timer to see how much I can get done in a certain amount of time.
For instance, I might set my timer on my phone for 15 minutes and start writing a blog. I want to see how much I can get done in that time. I will only focus on that goal. It is that this helps me to get more done. I close the door to my office and get to work. When the times has finished counting down It is that I have been able to get a lot more done then I ever thought was possible.
If I am on a roll I will set the timer one more time and try to finish what I have started before the time runs out.
It’s very important that you put times and dates to your goals. If you don’t have deadlines you will always find an excuse as to why you don’t finish what you have started. We are all guilty of it at one time or another. If we plan to succeed then there is nothing that can stop you from reaching your goals!
I like to challenge myself to finish something before I say it will be done. That way I have time to go back over everything and make sure that is done right.
